Mission Committee Objectives
- Encourage people to enter missionary service
- Improve communications with our missionaries
- Promote Missionary productions at HBC
- Educate the church family on global missions
- Encourage financial and personal support of missionaries through Junior Church, Youth Group, Home Groups, regular special Appeals.
Supported Missionaries
Howick Baptist supports about 5 or 6 missionaries consistently in a number of different countries. However we do not publicly disclose the details of the missionaries we support unless we have their express permission. There may be more information up here in the future. We do however have some information available on our supported missionaries on the church bulletin boards and notices brochure.
Voice of the Martyrs Writers' Group
HBC VOM Writers' Group meets the last Wednesday of the month (10:00 - 11:30 HBC Prayer Room) to pray for the persecuted church and write letters to Christian prisoners who are suffering persecution because of their love for Jesus. Letters can make a difference!
Mail sent to Christian prisoners, and to those who are being persecuted is important because it:
- indicates to authorities that we are aware of that Christian’s situation
- testifies of the love and unity found among followers of Jesus Christ throughout the world
- is evidence to our persecuted family that they are not forgotten
- can result in better treatment for a prisoner
