The Eldership Team

We believe in a plurality of elders - ie. all pastors are part of a larger body of men who have collective responsibility for the spiritual oversight of the church.

 

Peter Somervell

Senior Pastor / Elder

Peter Somervell does most of the preaching at HBC. Peter was trained at The Master's Seminary in Los Angeles and was appointed at HBC in July 2006 after serving for several years at Wanganui East Baptist Church.

Joe Fleener

Associate Pastor / Elder

Joe Fleener began his role as Associate Pastor in December 2010. Joe received his theological training at Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, PA, USA. He is also an adjunct lecturer of Ethics & Hebrew a Grace Theological College (Auckland), and regional trainer for BibleWorks in New Zealand.

Ian Lange-Smith
Elder

Ian leads a homegroup and heads up the Mission's Committee.

Chris Wade

Elder

Chris oversees the Children's Sunday School ministries here at Howick Baptist. He is also a co-leader of a homegroup and  a member of the Management Team

Roger Alexander

Elder

Roger oversees the homegroup ministries as well as co-leading a  homegroup.

 Andrew Ho

Elder

Andrew is active in the Pastoral Care Ministry as well as serving as our church treasurer.
