Why give

For Christians, regular financial giving is motivated by:

A grateful response to the generosity and kindness of Jesus, the King of Glory who gave up everything in order to reconcile us to God
A desire to fund gospel work in our local church and around the world

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”

“As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

“Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

How to Give

If you’d like to give financially to HBC, there are three options:

1. COLLECTION A collection is taken up during each morning service.

2. AUTOMATIC PAYMENT Set up an automatic payment using your banking provider. Our bank details are:

Reference: Your offering number or leave blank

3. ENVELOPE SYSTEM

On request, you will be issued with a set of envelopes and an offering number. Please write the date and your offering number on the envelope if you’d like a tax receipt at the end of the financial year.

OFFERING NUMBER
An individual’s giving details are kept confidential as much as possible, out a desire to not show partiality. One way to do this is to use an offering number. Contact the church office if you would like an offering number, or to go onto the envelope system.

TAX RECEIPTS

Tax receipts are issued in April of each year. In order to claim a tax receipt, donations to HBC need to be identifiable. You can either use your name or an offering number that has been allocated to you. Note that according to IRD’s rules, donations directed towards an individual (e.g. love gift) are not tax deductible.
